I speak often about quitting acrylic paints, and finally I decided to revisit the kit (or at least the base kit) that finally made me move on to lacquers. I built the PBandai Astray Noir in 2018, back then I used to use spray cans for the inner frame for the increased durability but there was no such metallic purple colour in the Tamiya spray can range. I ended up doing a candy coat on the internals which absolutely got scratched to hell when I went to pose it.
Two and a bit years later the release of the Flight Unit made me decide to try my hand again, and it’s a good opportunity for me to practice painting red, my least favourite colour.
Painting
Using the same concept as my previous Astray Noir build, the frame is painted using 2 different metallic tones, and a matte red for some parts. This is to provide some contrast to the frame and prevent all the parts from blending into each other.
